I remember reading Dick Mayer's book put out after the Open win. He put it down to moving from a 3 knuckle grip to 2 knuckles. He then hit the ball 230 yards straight instead of 250 yards and wondering where it would end up! How would 230 off the tee get you in today's game?

I also remember being a child at the age of about 9 or 10. I was iver at my sisters house and i was talking with some other neighbors children and we all were un upstairs apartments wish had iron bannisters and it was only raining and a dew strikes of lightning so i noticed that everytime the lightning would strike the other children across the way in the apartment would jump back from the bannister but i never knew why and nobody bothered to tell me. It was a brother and sister older than me so one if the next strikes they jumped back again but as for me it HIT ME LIKE NONE OTHER I HAD EVER FELT IN MY YOUNG LIFE! I SCREAMED HOLLERED AND CRIED OUT. My sister came out to see what was going on my mama heard me drom avriss the way abd she rushed over and they all comforted me and checked me out all over and my mom says it was more of a SHOCK if electricity than a strike. And it could have been worse but did my neighbors that i was talking with bother to cone over? NO THEY ACTUALLY LAUGHED AT ME! But it was ok because i kearned from that day until this one hiw ti RESPECT the weather with my mom and sister explaining it all to me and that made me teach my children hiw ti RESPECT GOD WHEN HE'S AT WORK! All appliances are turned off in the home i mean everything including aur and heat according to the weather. And everyone is quiet no cell phones at all just PURE RESPECT FROM US! I think my son trys to be lil slick with his. But I'll catch him and hopefully and Prayerfully he will not have to find out the hard way. JUST KEEPING IT REAL!! ALL STAY BLESSED AND BE SAFE!

I was born in 1970 and only putted a bit before but in 1986 my grandfather said on Masters Sunday something special is going on come watch with me and I watched the final round of the Masters…that summer I got a job working at a local golf course and bought that big putter Jack used and along with a set of clubs my grandpa gave me it started me on my love of golf..I’m not a champion but became a 6 handicap and have so many great memories playing this great game..thank you for the motivation Mr. Nicklaus…..

Tiger had amazing years like 2000..played deeper fields but the top 10-15 players Jack faced were better…plus19 runner ups in majors blows everyone away

I know this course was ridiculous in 2015, but I secretly kind of loved this U.S. Open. I mean it was just absurd, and watching the golfers mentally break was something else.

About six weeks later I was working the Anderson Consulting World Championship of Golf in Kohler, WI. Pavin was a semifinalist for the United States region. He and his caddie arrived a day early for a practice round and his clubs were stored underground with the golf carts. I met Pavin after his practice round and told him that his win made me proud to be an American. (Corny, I know, but I was 23, nervous, and I didn't really know what to say.) He said he had fun doing it. When he and his caddie left the course, I went down where his clubs were stored. I was alone. I approached the golf bag and there it was, the four-wood. I took the cover off of it and slowly rubbed the head of Pavin's famous four-wood for about 10 seconds. It was one of the greatest golf moments of my life. That's a true story.
